Atlas (2024) Movie Review

 Plot

Atlas Shepherd, a brilliant data analyst with a deep distrust of artificial intelligence, joins a mission to capture a terrorist AI with whom she shares a mysterious past. But when the mission doesn't go as planned, her only hope of saving humanity from AI is to trust another AI.

Review

An action packed, a new Netflix sci-fi movie starring Jennifer Lopez, "Atlas" explores familiar sci-fi territory with an AI gone rogue. There is nothing we haven't seen before.

CGI is used extensively for world-building and action scenes, are adequate but not particularly thrilling. The alien world depicted often feels more like a video game environment than a fully realized cinematic universe.

Movies explore if humans and AI could co-exist or not. The plot revolves around Lopez's character, Atlas Shepherd, who initially distrusts AI but gradually learns to trust it through her interactions with the suit's AI. Although I enjoy the conversation about the difference between a human and an AI. The rest of the plot is not that interesting and engaging. Terrorist AI's story is not that interesting either. Jennifer Lopez's performance is okay. She did better than I expected.

Ultimately, "Atlas" is a "turn your brain off and watch" type of movie, offering some entertaining moments but not achieving the groundbreaking status of other sci-fi films.

Beverly Hills Cop : Axel F (2024) Review

IMDb - 6.6 Rotten Tomatoes - 66% Genre - Comedy/Action Rating - R Runtime - 1 hour 58 minutes  Director - Adil El Arbi, Bilall Fallah   Cast - Eddie Murphy, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Taylor Paige, Judge Reinhold, Paul Reiser PLOT Axel Foley returns to Beverly Hills after his daughter's life is threatened, and works with old pals John Taggart and Billy Rosewood to uncover a conspiracy. REVIEW After 30 years, Axel Foley returns to Beverly Hills. Netflix has revived the franchise, delivering the fourth installment with Eddie Murphy reprising his iconic role. As Axel Foley, Murphy embodies the rule-breaking, street-smart, foul-mouthed, and fast-talking cop from Detroit. Watching Eddie Murphy in the "Beverly Hills Cop" franchise is always a delight, and he remains the heart of the movie. Murphy still has the same charm he exhibited in the original films, though the jokes don't quite hit as hard as they used to. However, there are still a few laughs to be found. The story pic...

The Watchers (2024) Movie Review

PLOT The Watchers follows Mina, a 28-year old artist who gets stranded in an expansive, untouched forest in western Ireland. When Mina finds shelter, she unknowingly becomes trapped alongside three strangers that are watched and stalked by mysterious creatures each night. REVIEW When you hear an unexpected noise when alone in your room, it sends shivers down your spine. No one likes the feeling of being watched, and the thought is enough to creep anyone out. This film taps into the fear of the unknown with that concept plus sound effects. The hauntingly gorgeous backdrop of Ireland's enormous woodlands and craggy landscapes heightens the sensation of isolation. Mina is on a journey when her car breaks down, stranding her in the forest. She soon meets three other lost people, and together they seek sanctuary in an unusual building with one wall totally made of glass, reflecting only their own images. Every night, they are stalked by mysterious creatures that observe them through ...
