REVIEW
Gru has now joined the Anti-Villain League, a secret organization. He is no longer a villain. He has a family now—his wife, three adopted daughters, and a newborn baby boy who, for some reason, doesn’t like him.
The animation is bright and colorful, as it has been in previous films, and the story is fast-paced. The Minions are still up to their usual crazy things, providing plenty of laughs. This time, the Anti-Villain League chooses five Minions and gives them abilities, forming the Mega-Minion team. The excitement and fun really begins when they venture inside the city to rescue residents. Their superpowers are inspired by famous superheroes from other franchises, and they even replicate great superhero sequences in classic Minion style.
The drama begins when Maxime Le Mal escapes from jail, swearing revenge on Gru for humiliating him and having him imprisoned at their school reunion. When the Anti-Villain League learns about this, it sends Gru and his family into hiding.
The family tries to adjust to their new surroundings and identities, but it’s not easy. Gru struggles to make friends with his neighbors, and his wife isn’t doing well at her new job. Gru eventually has to go on a heist, giving us one last look at his villainous skills. There are many subplots woven throughout the film that tie together in the end. Maxime Le Mal, the new villain, has been Gru’s rival since their school days. I can't get my head in the sub plots because I was more interested in seeing what Maxime would do to Gru.
Gru's relationship with his adopted three day girls have improved in the previous movies and his days as a villain are behind him. He now has to focus on bonding with his newborn kid, who does not appear to like him very much. It's a fun family adventure film filled with laughters. The story itself is not too serious or emotionally driven.
Don't think much about logic and don't expect big plots. This picture is intended for children. Simply enjoy the Minions' ridiculous dialogues and see them in action for a good chuckle.
