A professor moonlighting as a hit man of sorts for his city police department, descends into dangerous, dubious territory when he finds himself attracted to a woman who enlists his services.


Review 

"Hit man" (2023), directed by Richard Linklater, is a film that effortlessly blends romance, philosophy, comedy, and crime into a unique story. 

The plot centers around Gary, a philosophy teacher in New Orleans, who is interested in technology and watching birds. He also works part-time helping the police. He is unexpectedly forced to take the role of the undercover hitman when the usual operative is unavailable. Surprisingly, He discovers he has a natural talent for this work. The job is to gather information to help imprison clients and prevent murders.

The story takes a turn when Gary encounters Madison, who wants to hire him to deal with her oppressive husband. However, Gary breaks protocol by talking her out of the crime, setting off a chain of events that drives the story forward.

 Glen Powell's performance as Gary is noteworthy. His portrayal of various hitman personas is captivating and fun to watch, showcasing his versatility. A star in the making.   

Glen Powell and Adria Arjona chemistry is hot and excellent. Their relationship is the heart of the story. 

The film is smart and has a well-written script, which delves into philosophical questions about human consciousness, identity, and the potential for change over time. the film asks about the mystery of human consciousness. Can people change over time? What is our identity? The film explores questions like these.All these elements are woven into the crime story.

Overall, "Hit Man" is entertaining, has engaging performances, and effortlessly blends different genres. It stands out as a refreshing and satisfying film to watch. This is one of the best films of the 2023 period.
